Dear All,

We had the opportunity to view and install NGV on a NAZA RIA based on factory-fitted Standard Installation Procedure, courtesy of NAZA Manufacturing, CNA Manufacturing and PDI-assembler Tactical Force. It is a cooperation of three companies, fitting NGV system on NAZA RIA in Gurun, Kedah.

System: EngineTech, Korea
ECU: DNGV, Korea
Injector: HanaTech, Korea.
Reducer: OMVL REG CNG reducer, Italy

Firstly, the workmanship is par above excellent. It has the look, design and feel of an OEM-fit NGV system. The wiring harness are made to 'Plug & Play' approach, with pre-built socket attachment. Only 3 wires are attached to the original RIA ECU, based on 3C method (cut, connect & cliplock). The 3 signal wires are connected inside the vehicle at the original ECU level. The main cable loom is insulated with PVC tubing.

Secondly, there are 3 OEM-design brackets using 'Plug & Play' approach, where the brackets attached to existing screws. There is no need for drilling onto the vehicle body. The first bracket is for the OMVL Reducer, another for Gas Refilling in the engine compartment and 3rd bracket for the Injector Rail.

Thirdly, the GAS ECU is placed inside the car. It is located under the steering column (driver side). It is firmly attached into place with another bracket.

Fourth, the Switchover unit is installed on the DASHBOARD and fit nicely next to the hazard light button.

Fifth, the cylinder is a 70L (ENK, Korea) and covered with a factory-design carpet cover.

Finally, the EngineTech software is the most impressive part. We were given the opportunity to tune a NAZA RIA-EngineTech NGV, by Tactical Force request. Here is what we have noticed:

Base Setting - setting the vehicle for meter reading(LED indicator), Petrol2Gas changeover parameters, Injector Change Tester, and RPM signal reading. The best part is an Engine LOAD Correction adjustment.

O2 Setting - setting to establish the correct reading for rich/lean mixture according to the correct voltage produced by the Oxygen (Lambda) sensor. There is also another O2 Feedback Correctio adjustment.

Acceleration Setting - setting to establish the right acceleration response. This is the most useful tool as we used it to correct the time delay on gas injector (due to the long length of the injector piping to the intake manifold). This brought about an immediate acceleration response on NGV. The RIA just take-off upon pedal acceleration without delay. And we had 4 adult-males in the car too.

MAP setting - setting to establish the correct air-fuel mixture at each RPM speed. This was pretty standard in all software.

Auto-Calibration - to auto-tune the gas system to the car. We did not use this function as the GAS ECU is factory-programmed. However so, our RIA had some problems at 2,000-3,000 rpm range and injecting too much gas into the engine. Thus, we did manual tuning instead.

Hardware Setting - setting to establish the correction response to voltage signal on reducer temperature, gas pressure and gas temperature.

Real Time Data Display - an overall of the system in a single page display of real time data.

In conclusion, This is the CORRECT NGV system for NAZA Ria. The Naza RIA owner (Mr Richard - 1st batch No.35 NAZA RIA NGV delivered) was complaining that it was underpowered and high gas consumption. It was diagnosed that 2,000 - 3,000rpm range, the car was running too rich in gas. Thus, we recalibrated it lower and readjusted the Acceleration response. After tuning for 20 minutes, the owners was getting worried with his car. He was trying to control his new NAZA RIA as it was very powerful.

Before, he was pressing down the pedal to the maximum.
After, he was lightly pressing down only.

His 1st comment : Now NAZA RIA is very light and smooth (we know it means the air-fuel mixture is correct and producing power).

His 2nd comment : the gear change is smooth and NO longer kicks.

Our verdict: For all NAZA RIA owners, please wait for NAZA, CNA and TF to make available EngineTech for the installation on REM Or On-the-Road-NAZARIA conversion. We believe this is the right NGV system for NAZA RIA.

At present, it is confined to OEM-Fitment only. You can TRY (no guarantee that he will entertain your call) contact PDI-Assembler Tactical Force CEO : En Razak Kassim at 016-6261706. We are just wondering how well EngineTech perform on ageing Naza-RIAs. The above vehicle had only 2,300+km on its mileage, which no surprise for it to perform well.Perhaps, CPCHIN and FrankTee should call him.

EngineTech NAZARIA - PDI-Assembler Tactical Force

Production since:
November 2008 - 200+ vehicles delivered.
January 2009 - extra 160+ under fitment now.
(the installation runs in a small batch, and it was mainly delivered as premium taxicabs).

But there is a WARNING: NAZA, CNA & TF have NOT confirmed the network of Warranty Centers around Malaysia. In fact, there is NONE! We were just asked to assist in Richard's case (1st case so far).

Excellent NGV system for Naza RIA (Korean NGV on Korean MPV!), but there will be a mess on Warranty Claim if it is not solved soon.drx

very interesting and reassuring for present and potential nasa ria owners.

they can finelly make a lot of savings in monthly fuel cost without the problen of the ngv kit not playing well with the engine and find it hard to resolve the problen.

thanks for the info, hijau.

Just wonder why no one reply this topic. Very informative. As Naza Ria owner, I think is fair for me to say something. Basically, I think Naza Ria is a very good car to convert to NGV class. OEM NGV engine required much higher compression ratio value compare to petrol. The higher the engine compression ratio, the better it is for NGV fuel.

Most of Naza Ria owner don’t have much complain about the NGV performance. The engine have compression ratio of 1:10.5 compare to other petrol engine with only have average of 1:9.5. On top of that, Ria petrol ECU don’t have much problem advance the ignition when it detected high octane level in NGV fuel.

The power of my Ria is close to petrol but the only problem is, a bit of jerk during hard acceleration. I think I need to further fine tune the car.

My other complain is low travel distance with NGV. I’m getting about 10-12cents per KM in town use/heavy traffic and 6 cent in the highway. Thus, for every gas refill, I only manage to get around 80-100km for town use on my 80L cylinder.

I guess all Naza Ria have the same problem. I wonder if EngineTech NAZARIA - PDI-Assembler Tactical Force have solution for this.

This problem has been brought up by CP Chin end of last year but so far have no get any positive solution yet.

Maybe NGV Info can find solution for us?

I wonder what the FC for other MPV's are like.

My dad's SpaceGear 2.4L 100L tank does 140km in the city.

Any stats on Toyota Estima's or Nissan Serana's?

NAZA RIA NGV - Engine Tech (www.korengine.com)

Naza RIA NGV Development:

NGV Companies involved in its Development:
(a) A*E* Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (2005-2006)
(b) N*ce N*twork Sdn Bhd (2006-2007)
(c) Altospektra Sdn Bhd/Rokan Maju Sdn Bhd (2007-2008)
(d) Universiti Kuala Lumpur/Tactical Force Sdn Bhd (2008-present)

Many companies have ventured into a joint collaboration with Naza Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (through its R&D Division in Gurun, Kedah). Many NGV Systems were tested on NAZA RIA 2.5L MPV, such as Bugatti, OMVL REG, Zavoli, Emmegas, presently EngineTech (Korean) and others.

Out of these systems, we have seen OMVL REG installed on 250 NAZA RIA as factory-fitted systems. However so, it has been discontinued to various reasons.

At present, CNA Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (a Major Vendor - Korean company) has been awarded the concession to supply and install NAZA RIA 2.5L with NGV System. The chosen system is EngineTech brandname.

This EngineTech brand contains:
(a) An OMVL REG reducer (similar to earlier NAZA RIA NGV);
(b) DNGV Sequential Injection ECU (the key component);
(c) Factory-built harness wiring based on 'Plug & PLAY' approach;
(d) Universiti Kuala Lumpur Recommended Installation Design;
(e) 70L ENK Steel CNG Cylinder with Carpet Cover.

The real difference is the GAS ECU between 1st NAZA NGV by N*ce N*twork (NN) and the present EngineTech Naza Ria (or CNA NAZA).

As said, 'Korean NGV for Korean MPV' is the key reason behind our commendation. Here is our preliminary performance report:

(a) Factory-tuning seems to be still not accurate, as we need to retune at 2,000 - 3,000 rpm and recalibration Acceleration Performance.

(b) After retuning, the hard/fast Acceleration has not JERK but a rush forward. It jumps forward on hard Acceleration, just slightly slower than petrol by 1/2 second. 'Acceleration Setting' was the key feature that helps refine the tuning for Acceleration. It uses a Acceleration Air-Fuel MAPPING table (value multiplier) on the setting. In OMVL, it is just a simple slide for positive (add) or negative value (minus). The OMVL setting is not accurate enough for a heavy NAZA RIA MPV.

(c) Automatic Correction feature is the computer adjustement on air-fuel mixture. This provide an automated correction on rich or lean mixture, to stoichiometry (right air-fuel mixture for NGV). It is an ongoing correction, making the MPV performance at the best mixture. This improves power, lowering gas consumption. Unlike the Factory-tuning on negative correction values, we employed a 'Positive Correction' calibration.

As we rang up the 1st warranty customer (Mr Richard), it has been reported that his original factory-tuning was running extremely rich at 2,000-3,000rpm range. The result is RM10.00 for 70km, with a 70L tank. This is because Mr Richard was always driving within the 2,000 - 3,000rpm range in KL city. After retuning manually, he reports that he is getting an average 120km for RM10.00 in KL city.

It is expected that the mileage improves as he is operating almost best air-fuel mixture at all times. The DNGV Gas ECU is very accurate and provides a good carburetion. Korean knows Korean MPV, and design Korean NGV suitable for Korean MPV.

Perhaps, the factory-tuners did not take into account the Malaysia climate, road condition and Malaysian driving habits. This is probably the reason why factory-tuning was abit off.

It is very clear that our 1st hand-experience with EngineTech NGV system is 'WOW! It works well'. All the familiar problems, like jerk, poor idling, and poor acceleration, did not present itself in EngineTech. BUT it was a BRAND NEW NAZA RIA MPV, which it SHOULD perform well in that sense.

Time will tell whether EngineTech is good. Everything should work well when it is brandnew and low mileage. At least, we can said one thing for sure

'WOW! Good Job EngineTech on NAZA RIA'.drx
