I installed mixer ngv system for past 1 yr, waja 1.6 M, yr 2002. About 2 month ago the idling start become unstable and significant power lost noted during acceleration. It occurred on & off. The NGV installer told me that the problems were due to step motor malfunction. It cost RM600 to change.
As a solution, the installer remove the step motor and change it to a valve system (called power valve) with manual adjustment. So far the engine is running well on ngv mode.The is no under power at all.In fact, the car feel lighter and the more responsive to throttle input.

Is there long term problem if i not using the step motor? I notice that the gas consumption is a bit more that before but the difference is not much. Maybe i drive a bit faster now.

with step-motor got more precise gas amount going into the mixer from the regulator. With power valve its just a screw that determines how much gas goes thru.... more like digital vs analog.
With power valve you do get abit more higher consumption.

I've been on power valve since 1st day. Did my conversion (mixer with power valve) June last year and have done almost 35,000km.... so far no problem. tuning still ok, consumption also consistent.
Did scheduled engine oil change, engine filter & so far 2 sets spark plugs.
Only 3 weeks ago changed plug cables (wear & tear)... they were original when bought the car (3.5 yrs ago)
